Julie C. Shafer, 67, of Erie, Pa., passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, following a chronic illness.
She was born in James-town, N.Y., on June 3, 1945, daughter of the late Stilson and Jean Secor Coleman.
Julie graduated from Jamestown High School in 1963 and Jamestown Community College's nursing program in 1965. She was previously employed at General Hospital in James-town, and University Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. She specialized in mental health and communications. Julie was a volunteer in the disabled community. Her interests were nature, biking, plants, reading, pets, cooking, music and photography.

Julie is survived by her son, Brett Shafer and her grandson, Chad Marino, both of Jamestown, N.Y.
A private interment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Jamestown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwestern Pennsylvania Humane Society, P.O. Box 3930, Erie, PA 16508.
