Can someone ... anyone ... give me a realistic reason for the use of the Electoral College?
I can't recall another year when so many people felt like their vote didn't matter because the Electoral College would supersede the popular vote result. Hard to motivate everyone to take part in the voting process when truth is these electoral numbers determine the results.
In the case of this recent presidential election, the president won on both counts but it could have been skewed if the popular vote had been won by Mr. Romney but the president had won more electoral votes. Can we not change this to reflect the simple winner is the person who receives the majority of the votes? Seems so easy and would determine the voice of the people.
