Freshman Emily Foy is a member of the Penn State Behrend women's soccer team, which will be making it second straight appearance - and fifth overall - in the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend.

The Lions (12-8), who will travel to Geneva to face William Smith at 11 a.m., Saturday, earned the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's automatic bid into the 64-team tournament after winning their second consecutive title and eighth conference crown. Meanwhile, the Herons (13-2-3), who are ranked No. 12 in the latest NSCAA national poll, defeated Union, 3-2, to win the Liberty League championship and earn the NCAA bid.

Behrend finished with an 8-1 conference record to earn the

AMCC co-regular season champions before handing D'Youville a 1-0 loss in the semifinals and then defeating Pitt-Bradford for the title.

For her part, Foy (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) has scored three goals - all game winners - in 14 games, including four starts.

Freshman Jeff Green (Lakewood/Southwestern) won all four of his diving events in two dual meets for the Nazareth College men's swimming and diving team.

In a victory over Brockport last Friday, Green won the one-meter (242.05) and three-meter (236.40) competitions. He also won the same two events on Saturday at Hartwick with scores of 191.25 and 195.40 on the one- and three-meter boards respectively.

Those efforts earned Green, the son of Dennis and Beth Green, Nazareth's athlete-of-the-week honors.

Freshman Jennie Thies is off to a fast start on the nationally ranked Gannon University women's basketball team.

Last Saturday, Thies contributed four points, nine rebounds, one block and one steal when Gannon knocked off Buffalo, 63-53, at Alumni Arena.

The Lady Knights, who are ranked 15th in the USA Today Sports/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll and 14th in the women's Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25, start the regular season with an unbelievable stretch of games at the Disney Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, Calif., this weekend.

Gannon begins the tournament against eighth-ranked UC San Diego on Friday, before battling top-ranked Ashland on Saturday. The Classic concludes on Sunday against West Texas A&M, which was among other teams receiving votes in the preseason national poll.
