Barry Snyder won the hotly contested six-way race for Seneca Nation President and will lead the Seneca Nation for the next two years.

"The past two years have broken the spirit and confidence that our people have in Seneca political leadership. We will not look back but we will move forward with an open and transparent government that will enable us to continue to protect and grow our economic sovereignty and our traditional values and culture."

Barry Snyder received 929 votes over Richard E. Nephew, who received 704 votes. A total of 2,636 Seneca voters turned out at the polls on the Cattaraugus and Allegany territories on Tuesday. Pierce received 1,106 votes for treasurer with Robert Porter receiving 786 votes.

Elected to the four Cattaraugus Councilor seats are: Jeff Gill, Christina Jimerson, Linda Doxtator and Shelley Huff. The four Allegany Council seats were won by: Morris Abrams, Arlene Bova, Kevin Printup, and Mike Williams.
