Voters have their once-a-year chance today to have their voices be clearly heard.
This is a presidential election year, and so Americans today will decide on the political philosophy that will guide our nation from the White House for the next four years.
The entire House of Representatives - all 435 seats - as well as a third of the U.S. Senate are up for election today too. House members serve for two years. The U.S. Senate terms are six years.
It is important for our country that you take time to vote today.
This is an "off" election year locally in that the County Legislature will not be up for election until next year along with Jamestown City Council and several town offices.
However, important elections for County Court judge and the state Assembly and Senate are on the ballot today, along with elections in a handful of towns and one village.
It is important for our county and our state that you take time to vote today.
The polls opened at 6 a.m. and will be open until 9 p.m. this evening. If you are uncertain where to vote, check online at www.votechautauqua.com or telephone the Board of Elections at 753-4580.
This is your country, your state and your county.
And it is your responsibility to vote.
