Elsie M. Erikson, 99, formerly of Frewsburg, N.Y., died at the Colonial Terrace Personal Care Home, Corry, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.
Elsie was born July 17, 1913, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Forsander Hazeltine.
She was raised and educated in Busti, N.Y., and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1931. Following her marriage, her main priority was raising and caring for her family. Elsie later worked as a secretary at the former Dahlstrom Manufacturing Company in Jamestown for more than 22 years, retiring from there in 1978. She had lived in the Corry area for more than10 years.

Elsie attended the First United Methodist Church in Corry, Pa. She was a member of the Ivory Baptist Church in Ivory, N.Y., where she was an organist and pianist for many years. She was a member of the Carter Hill Ladies Aide and also held various positions in several organizations she had belonged to over the years. Elsie enjoyed flower gardening, knitting, cro-cheting, taking bus trips and traveling.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death on Feb. 5, 1955 by her husband, Harry W. Erikson, whom she married on Nov. 3, 1933, in Akeley, Pa.; a daughter, Ann Peterson McCoy; a son, Richard Dale Erikson; an infant sister; a brother, Fred Hazeltine; a grandson, Mark Peterson; and a great-grandson, Kai Erikson.
Elsie is survived by two sons: Harold Erikson and his wife, Dorothy, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Englewood, Fla., and Walter Erikson and his wife, Nancy, of Liberty Lake, Wash. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren including Beth Carpenter and her husband Frank, of Columbus, Pa.; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her extended family at the Colonial Terrace.
There will be no visitation.
A private graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, N.Y. The Rev. John Rough will officiate.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Brack-en Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa.
