Gunvor L. Ecklund

Gunvor L. Ecklund, 96, formerly of 9 Crane St., died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Lutheran Home & Rehabilita-tion Center.

She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in Jarpen, Sweden, the daughter of the late Carl and Dagney Runsten Gustafson. Gunvor came to the United States with her mother in June of 1925 at the age of nine.

She had worked as a waitress for many years in several Jamestown area res-taurants, and was a member of the former Vikings Diana Lodge.

Gunvor treasured any time spent with her chil-dren, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are three children: N. Russell (Thelma) Ecklund and C. Robert Ecklund, both of Jamestown, and Carol (Roger) Bender of Lakewood; nine grandchildren: Lisa (Jon) Ecklund-Flores and Amy Ecklund, both of Tarrytown, N.Y., Timothy (Bette) Ecklund of Getzvelle, N.Y., Matthew (Edith) Ecklund of Panama, Beth (Doug) Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeff Stamler of Wooster, Mass., Julie Stamler of Mississippi, Michael (Michele) Sperry of Blockville, and Kristin (Mike) Yuchnitz of Ash-ville; and 20 great-grand- children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Einar N. Ecklund in 1977; and a grandson, Mark R. Ecklund in 1994.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, chaplain of Lutheran Social Services, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church Street School for Music and Art Scholar-ship Fund, 74 Warren St., New York, NY 10007; or to a charity of choice.
