Bruce A. Parker

Bruce A. Parker, 50, of Hanson Road, Gerry, passed away unexpectedly on Friday (November 2, 2012) in WCA Hospital.

A lifelong area resident he was born November 4, 1961, in Jamestown, the son of the late Ellis R. and Margaret E. Olson Parker.

Bruce was a 1979 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School and served in the National Guard for eight years. In earlier years Bruce was employed by Falconer Plate Glass and C. R. England Trucking. He had also operated a beef cattle farm.

He was a member of the Chautauqua County Beef Producers Association having served as director, North American Hunting Club and National Rifle Association. He was a past member of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department.

Bruce enjoyed all outdoor activities especially hunting, fishing, horseback riding and camping. He also enjoyed raising beef cattle.

Surviving is his wife, Julie Green Parker whom he married September 19, 2009, in Gerry, a son Robert Johnston of Ellington; three stepdaughters: Anita (Steve) Schmitt of Barker, N.Y., Elizabeth Mongielo and Charlene Johnson, both of Lockport, N.Y.; a grandchild, Jocelyn Schmitt; a brother, Bill (Deborah) Parker of Gerry; a sister, Susan (Bruce) Fulton of Lakewood; a special cousin Barry Clark of Fredonia; a special friend Larry Bailey of Gerry and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ellis Parker Jr., Robert J. Parker; and a sister Helena K. Libby.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Bellinger, pastor of Gerry Free Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
