Fenner Elementary Students Vote In Mock Election

November 4, 2012
The Post-Journal

Students at HC Fenner Elementary in Falconer recently participated in a nationwide Mock Election offered by Studies Weekly, which offers standards-based publications for all subjects. All students in grades 3-5 exercised their right to vote while learning about the democratic process. Students across the country participated in the mock election with live election updates posted every 15 minutes to keep students up to date on candidates and their standings in the polls. Students in Ms. Velazquez's fifth-grade class headed up the mock election, setting up a polling station in which students had to provide their signature, were escorted to a voting station, and after each student voted they received an, "I Voted" sticker. Students showed their pride by wearing red, white, and blue, and welcoming students enthusiastically to the polls.
