PANAMA Gary R. McChesney, 58, of Swede Road, Panama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday (Nov. 2, 2012), from his home.
He was born April 20, 1954, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Robert J. and Marion Hoyt McChesney.
Gary was a graduate of the former Chautauqua Central School the class of 1973. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Gary owned and operat-ed MAC Energy in Columbus, Pa. Previously he had worked on drilling rigs for 20 years.
He was a member of the Niobe Baptist Church. where he was a Sunday school teacher and a dea-con at church for the past 20 years. He also was a member of the Chautauqua Cruisers Car Club.
Gary enjoyed hunting fishing, traveling, driving his old Road Runner, the family gatherings at the Ponderosa, and his church and church family.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Gruber McChesney, whom he mar-ried Oct. 15, 1977, in Pana-ma; three sons: Jason (Tina) McChesney of Warren, Pa., Corey McChesney of Ash-ville, and Scott McChesney of Panama; one grand-daughter, Emmalin Mc -Chesney of Warren; three sisters: Marcia Wall of Fal-coner, Sabrina Thorp of Lakewood, and Kate (Vince Kane) McChesney of Sher-man; three brothers: Stephen (Sally) McChes-ney of Sinclairville, James (Lynette) McChesney of Dunkirk, and Kevin McChesney of Mayville; and his stepfather, David Raynor of Dunkirk.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. McChesney on May 21, 1993; his mother, Marion Hoyt McChesney Raynor on April 6, 2011; and a brother, Gordon McChes-ney on Dec. 12, 1970.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednes-day in the Niobe Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Had-ley and Pastor Don Reese will officiate. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery in Niobe.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
