Swedish Course Starts Tuesday

Jamestown Community College will offer a non-credit beginning Swedish course from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 30 through Dec. 4. Incorporating Swedish history, culture, customs, and contemporary society, the course is designed to give participants basic language and conversation skills. The course, taught by Jeff Kroon, is designed for travelers, beginning language students, or others who would like to refresh their Swedish skills. Tuition is $60. To register for the course, call JCC's Center for Continuing Education at 338-1005.

Healthy Cooking Classes Continue

Healthy Cooking classes will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church 130 McDaniel Ave., Jamestown from 7 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday. The classes are free and will help lower cholesterol and blood pressure naturally while losing weight by cutting certain ingredients and replacing them with beneficial ones.

Leon Historical Society To Meet

LEON - The Leon Historical Society will meet today. Discussion will be on an old-fashioned Christmas program. Volunteers are needed to help the collections manager. All levels of experience are welcome. For more information, call Pat Bromley, Leon historian, at 296-5709. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays through November in the Historical Church. Amish baked goods will be available.

Library Movie Showing Is Today

Single Payer NY will sponsor a showing of the documentary film ''The Healthcare Movie'' from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today the Jamestown Prendergast Library Fireplace Room, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. The documentary traces the development of the American and Canadian health care system and how they evolved. Discussion will follow. The content of the program is independent of the library. County IDA?To Meet Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency board will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the IDA board room, 200 Harrison St., Jamestown. Following the meeting, the Chautauqua Region Industrial Development Corp. board will meet with a meeting of the Chautauqua County Capital Resource Corp. to follow. The public is welcome to attend.

Church Blood Drive Is Tuesday

RANDOLPH - Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph, along with Community Blood Bank, will host a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday. For more information or to schedule a blood drive through the Community Blood Bank, call Kathy Hastings at 450-0376 or email khastings@fourhearts.org.

Family Table Now Accepts EBT

Family Table Food Ministries, a program similar to the Angel Food program, now accepts SNAP (EBT) for orders. Menus are supplied by Family Table by calling Floris Dunn at 488-8824 or are available at Community Helping Hands, 31 Water St., Jamestown.
