PERRYSBURG - Maxwell B. Mohawk of Perrysburg has been taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail after allegedly shooting a Steamburg man several times after an argument.
At about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, New York State Troopers assigned to the Collins barracks responded to a Cattaraugus County E-911 call of a person shot at 10974 Whites Drive, Perrysburg, on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. The troopers found Charles F. White, 23, of Steamburg, in the yard with multiple gunshot wounds.
White was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
The investigation at the scene by the troopers and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation led to charges being filed against Maxwell B. Mohawk, 19, of 10972 Whites Drive. Mohawk is accused of shooting White several times with a .45 caliber pistol at close range.
Mohawk has been charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Perrysburg Town Court before the Hon. Lori Dankert and was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley on $100,000 bail or $200,000 bond.
