Schutte, Rudney Pace Lady Trojans

AKRON - Kara Schutte had seven aces, 25 aces, five kills, five blocks and three digs and Sally Rudny added five aces, four kills and four blocks as No. 9 Southwestern (14-5) defeated No. 8 Akron, 25-15, 25-15, 21-25, 14-25, 25-13 in the Section 6 Class C girls volleyball prequarterfinals on Thursday.

Jackie Gullotti recorded six kills and 29 digs while Southwestern teammate Jenna Rauh contributed six kills, five blocks and 18 digs for the Lady Trojans.

Becka Donner had 12 digs for Akron.

Southwestern now hosts 16th-seeded Fredonia (5-15) which upset No. 1 City Honors at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

FALCONER MOVES ON

FALCONER - Fourth-seeded Falconer made its record 12-2 by sweeping No. 13 Royalton-Hartland, 25-14, 25-12, 25-16.

The Lady Golden Falcons had 39 assists, 29 kills, eight aces, 37 digs and two blocks en route to victory.

Royalton-Hartland recorded 16 kills, four aces, eight digs and two blocks in the loss.

Falconer moves onto the quarterfinal round at 6 p.m. Tuesday and meets No. 5 Performing Arts of Buffalo.

CVCS ELIMINATED

EDEN - Third-seeded Eden swept No. 14 Cassadaga Valley, 3-0.

Eden plays No. 6 Gowanda on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
