Route 5 To Close Starting Thursday

RIPLEY - The state Transportation Department will begin a culvert replacement project on Route 5 in Ripley on Thursday. Route 5 in the vicinity of Shortman Road will be closed to all traffic for three weeks. A posted detour will direct traffic to follow a detour route on Shortman Road, U.S. Route 20 and Pa. Route 89.

Library?Board?To?Meet Thursday

The James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees will meet at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the Fireplace Room of the Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Cassadaga Blood Drive Is Wednesday

CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Fire Department Auxiliary will be sponsoring a Community Blood Drive from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the fire hall and community building on Mill Street, Cassadaga. There will be a $25 gift card giveaway sponsored by the auxiliary.

County Soil, Water Board To Meet

The Chautauqua County Soil & Water Conservation District directors will hold their regular meeting Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at the district office, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.

CLCS?Board To Meet Wednesday

MAYVILLE - The Chautauqua Lake Central School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the large group instruction room at the school. The Budget Task Force will meet prior to the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the district conference room.

Library To Host Halloween Party

SINCLAIRVILLE - The Sinclairville Free Library will host a Halloween party for children ages 8 through 12 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Featured will be stories, games a craft and special treat. Participants should come in costume.

Pine Valley, CASAC To Host Meeting

SOUTH DAYTON - Pine Valley Central School will host a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the South Dayton Fire Department activities hall to release the results of a CASAC survey of Pine Valley middle and high school students and discuss how to prevent risky behaviors such as alcohol, substance abuse use, delinquency, violence and dropping out of school. The public is welcome to attend.

SWCS Continues Superintendent Hunt

The Southwestern Central School Board of Education is conducting a search for superintendent. An invitation to parents and community members to participate in the final interview process can be viewed on the Southwestern School website at swcs.wnyric.org.

Cassadaga Church To Show Movie

CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, will hold a free dinner and movie night Friday in the fellowship hall. The dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the movie, What the Deaf Man Heard, will follow at 7 p.m. The dinner and movie are free and open the public.
