Elements Salon & Spa To Turn Parking Lot Pink

LAKEWOOD - Pink is the color of the month and soon the parking lot at Elements Salon & Spa.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with events held to raise money for research into the disease's cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

On Sunday, Oct. 28, Elements Salon & Spa, 1 Fairdale Ave., Lakewood, will host a fundraiser titled ''Turn The Parking Lot Pink'' for its grand-opening celebration. Amber Dewey, Elements owner, said between 1 and 5 p.m. they will be raising money for breast cancer awareness.

''We will have pink links and those that get one will have their name in for a breast cancer support raffle basket,'' she said.

The salon offers all the services you would expect, including haircuts, extensions, colorings and highlights. The spa offers manicures, pedicures, waxing, shellac nails, glitter toes, facials and paraffin dipping for hands, which helps with arthritis. Starting in January, the business will offer eyelash extensions.

''We also offer bridal parties. We have packages for brides which includes our professional makeup artist we have on staff,'' she said.

Dewey said the salon has five beauticians with plenty of experience: Patti Leblanc, stylist; Genevieve Rossotto, stylist, spa technician and makeup artist; Amber Dewey, owner and stylist; April Gustafson, stylist; and Kelly Mara, stylist.

''The stylist are like family. It is a great atmosphere to be around,'' she said.

Dewey has been a stylist for eight years. She trained at Toni & Guy Academy in Erie, Pa. Since then, she has worked for area salons, most recently for Lux Salon & Spa in Lakewood.

''We love the Lakewood area. The clients are great,'' she said. ''I love the people here. I love making them feel good.''

The salon & spa first opened June 5. Dewey said, with help from her husband, Scott, and her family, they were able to renovate and prepare the building in three weeks.

The stylist have flexible schedules, working with clients to schedule the most accommodating time for appointments.
