FALCONER - There is a new business in Falconer paying top dollar for gold and silver.
Exit 13 Gold and Silver Buyers, located along Route 394 Falconer, opened in September and is operated by Jamestown native Ivan Lopez. With the price of gold and silver rising, Lopez said it was the right time to get into the business.
"I know the market prices. I'm paying top dollar in cash," he said. "The customer is not obligated to sell to me after I look at what they have. They can shop around, but they will just be wasting their gas because I offer top dollar."

Lopez said he knows he will be successful because he pays current market value.
"There are a lot of scam artist out there. I'm not one of them," he said. "That is why I have an opportunity because I'll give people the right amount of money for their jewelry."
Lopez said he has chemicals and solutions to test the metal to ensure authenticity. He also has the necessary tools to calculate karats.
"Just because it is printed or marked gold, doesn't mean it is," he said. "I have a kit and I will test the items for people in front of them. I don't hide anything from the customer."
Lopez said he also is buying electronics, collectables and antiques, which he has been doing for the past several years.
"I will soon have a display case with small gold bracelets, sterling silver and coins," he said.
The business is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 489-3232.
Lopez is bilingual, knowing Spanish. Lopez said he also wants people to know Exit 13 Gold & Silver Buyers is not a pawn shop.
