John Anthony Miceli

October 20, 2012
The Post-Journal

John Anthony Miceli, 62, of Selbyville, Del., formerly of Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, surrounded by family at home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

John graduated from Bemus Point Central School in 1968, where he played football and golf. He loved camping and fish-ing, especially the trips he would take with his friends to different areas of Cana-da. In his youth, John was very active in the Boy Scouts of America. He spent many summer weeks at Camp Merz and on many other camping excursions. He also attended Philmont Scout Camp in Cimarron, N.M., and in 1967, he participated in the 12th Annual World Boy Scout Jamboree held in Farragut State Park in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

An avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, he never missed a game on television or by satellite broadcast. While in the Bemus Point area, John enjoyed playing golf, often shooting close to par. John also played in the local flag football league for many years, including playing on state championship teams that qualified for national championship games. Despite his size, he was one of the best "flag pullers" in the business due to his exceptional quickness. He also took pride in remembering facts and trivia, often answering more questions correctly than many of the game show contestants on television. He was employed for the last seven years by 3 B's Painting Contracting of Rehoboth Beach, Del.
