SYRACUSE - Though they had, somewhat inexplicably, fallen eight places in last week's Class C boys soccer rankings - from sixth to 14th despite no losses - Randolph is starting to climb the list once again in the most recent New York State Sportswriters Association poll.
The Cardinals, who have already captured the Division 2 crown following a season in which they went 15-1-0 overall and a perfect 12-0 in league, are ranked 11th in the class and have now gone 10 straight games without allowing a single goal.
Maple Grove, a squad that held the No. 6 position a week ago, suffered a hard-fought loss to North Collins in overtime and dropped to No. 12 with a record of 13-1-1.
North Collins (12-1-0) is No. 7 in Class D.
In girls soccer, the Lady Red Dragons (15-0), who captured their third straight league title last week, still have yet to suffer defeat and are the ninth-ranked team in Class C.
Ellicottville, at 11-2-1, held steady in Class D at No. 4.
Not much changed in the girls cross country rankings as Maple Grove remains atop the list for Class D while Sherman is close behind at No. 8.
In Class C, Fredonia is No. 3.
Finally, in boys cross country, the Maple Grove boys are No. 8.
