October 14, 2012
The Post-Journal

WESTFIELD - The Patterson Library in Westfield is hosting a new monthly program, "Home Away from Home," for home school children and their families.

It will be the first Monday of every month starting at 11 a.m. The program is for families with children of all ages, and will feature books and activities on a different subject every month.

"This is a great chance to meet other home school families, practice library skills, and have fun," said Amy Stephenson, children's librarian.

The first Home Away from Home will be Nov. 5, on the topic Preparing for Winter.

Families are asked to bring a favorite fall food to share with the group. December's topic will be Christmas traditions, January will be art and February will explore music. Age groups will split up for different activities on those themes. Participants will practice library research techniques and learn interesting information on the topic.

The program is free, but registration is requested by calling 326-2154.
