MAYVILLE - A resolution has been pre-filed with the County Legislature's Human Services and Audit and Control committees authorizing the negotiation of contract for the sale of the County Home.
The legislature will convene to potentially sell the County Home a week from today in a special legislative session. The legislature's committees also begin meeting in Mayville, starting on Monday.
The resolution, as noted by County Executive Greg Edwards in recent weeks, calls for the sale of the Dunkirk nursing facility to Altitude Health Services Inc., which offered $16.5 million in cash for the facility.
"It is appropriate that the County Legislature select a proposal for potential sale of the County Home and that the county executive commence negotiations with the proposer to allow the County Legislature to fully consider an actual proposed contract of sale," the resolution states.
The legislation is being sponsored by the county executive, as well 10 legislators, including chairman Jay Gould, R-Ashville.
