SYRACUSE - The Maple Grove boys soccer team was the biggest mover in the latest New York Sportswriters Association poll.

After going 2-0 during the first week of October and outscoring their opponents, 9-3, to improve to 10-0-1 overall, the Red Dragons climbed nine places in the Class C rankings to No. 6.

One casualty of the meteoric rise? Randolph.

Despite having a similarly strong week - it picked up a pair of shutouts to run their opponents' scoreless streak to seven games - the Cardinals, at 12-1-0, fell from sixth in the class a week ago to No. 14 in the latest rankings.

In girls soccer, meanwhile, the Lady Red Dragons, who remain undefeated at 13-0, rose one place in Class C to No. 10 and Allegany-Limestone (8-2-1) climbed from No. 17 to No. 16.

Ellicottville (10-2-1) held steady at No. 4 in Class D.

The Lady Red Dragons cross country team remains the top-ranked squad in Class D while Sherman fell to No. 7 and Silver Creek makes an appearance at No. 20.

Fredonia is No. 3 in Class C.

In boys cross country the Red Dragons are No. 5 in Class D.
