Riders To Host Meet And Greet

FREWSBURG - The Western NY Chapter of the American Legion Riders will hold a meet and greet Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Frewsburg American Legion Post 556, 9 Meadow Lane, Frewsburg. The Legion Riders, work together with the various veterans organization and help fellow veterans in times of need. For more information call Cal Fain at 569-9202.

Prelicensing Class Begins Monday

FREWSBURG - A five-hour prelicensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday and Tuesday, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Historical Society To Meet Monday

The Carroll Historical Society will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in their rooms located behind the Carroll Town Hall, Main Street, Frewsburg. Marsha Cheney will be speaking of her trip with 17 family members to the Netherlands in June to visit the burial place of Elwood J. Hanson in the cemetery at Margraten. Other family members will be present and will display items of Hanson. The public is invited to attend this event, there is no admission charge and refreshments are provided.

Fall Fest Car Show Is Sunday

The Southern Tier Classic Chevy Club and Scott's Peek'n Peak Resort will host the annual Fall Fest Car Show on Sunday. The show is open to all antique, classic and special interest cars, trucks and motor cycles. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The event will be held regardless of weather and typically has more than 650 vehicles participating. Dash plaques will be given to the first 300 cars. Door prizes and a single cash drawing will bring the club's season to a close at 4 p.m., when all trophies will be awarded. The Southern Tier Classic Chevy Club supports Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie.

Thrift Store To Close Oct. 19

Victory Tabernacle Thrift Store will close on Friday, Oct. 19. Everything is 50 percent off or less; or $2 for a 30-gallon bag. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday.

JCA To Kick Off 2012-13 Season

The Jamestown Concert Association will kick off its 2012-13 season on Friday at 8 p.m. in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Philadelphia Brass Quintet, featuring Brian Kuszyk, Lawrence Wright, Anthony Cecere, Robert Gale and Scott Mendoker will perform. Individual tickets are $20, $7.50 for college students and free for students 18 and under attending with a paid adult. For more information visit jamestownconcertassociation.org.

JPS Board To Meet Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at 197 Martin Road. The public is welcome to attend.
