The Post-Journal

Jamestown Business College will launch the second offering of its leadership program for promising high school seniors on Thursday.

While the JBC Leadership Launch was open to Chautauqua County seniors in 2011, this year, the program will also be open to those seniors in Cattaraugus and Warren counties. In its second year, the JBC Leadership Launch with state Sen. Catharine Young, R-Olean, is slated to begin Thursday at the JBC campus.

As part of the program, nominated seniors will participate with Senator Young and JBC administration and faculty in a series of leadership activities. The five-week program, which will include a variety of interactive curriculum, will provide students with the opportunity to learn more about their own leadership capabilities.

"We received a great response to the program last year," said David Conklin, JBC president. "And we are extremely excited to offer this program to even more students in our region. We received an overwhelming number of nominations."

Schools participating in the 2012 session include: Allegany-Limestone, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Cassadaga Valley, Chautauqua Lake, Ellicottville, Forestville, Fredonia, Jamestown, Olean, Ripley and Southwestern.
