The Jamestown Community College women's soccer team (6-6-2) saw its record drop to .500 with a 3-0 loss to the CC of Baltimore County-Essex Knights (5-4-0) in NJCAA action on Sunday afternoon.

Essex is a Division I team while JCC competes in Division III.

''We didn't play well at all,'' JCC coach Dana Shelters said. ''We had that streak where we won against weaker teams and we got into some bad habits.''

Shelters also noted that it was the Jayhawks' sixth game in 10 days.

''They looked like it, I thought,'' Shelters said.

Essex opened the scoring with a goal 17 minutes into the game. The Knight's second goal was at the 18-minute mark of the second half on a corner kick and the third goal came eight minutes later.

''The biggest thing for us is we didn't string any passes together,'' Shelters said. ''We did not show up.''

JCC returns to Region 3 Division III play on Tuesday with a game at Cayuga CC at 2 p.m. Then the Jayhawks play at Erie CC on Saturday at noon.

With some success in those games, Shelters said, ''We might end up with a home playoff game.''

But he added, ''We can't have days like today.''
