Chautauqua County has grant funds available to help low- and moderate-income homeowners whose septic systems are failing.
The grants were awarded through the New York State Office of Community Renewal to help homeowners throughout Chautauqua County who are on private septic systems.
In order to be eligible, homeowners must live in Chautauqua County, have a pre-existing septic system that is no longer functioning properly, the home must be the homeowner's primary residence, all taxes must be current, and the homeowner must meet the following income guidelines:
Family of one - $31,850;
Family of two - $36,400;
Family of three - $40,950;
Family of four - $45,500.
Adjustments continue to be made as family size increases.
