Alexandra "Alice" Mascelli, 82, of 34 Everett Ave., Jamestown, passed away on Oct. 2, 2012, at the Hamot Medical Center due to cardiac complications.

She was born March 8, 1930, in Piraeus, Greece, the daughter of the late Ekaterini and Sotirios Kapsoulakis, and emigrated to the United States in 1947 where she soon met and married her husband of 60 years, John Mascelli.

As a young woman growing up in Greece, Alice had hopes of becoming a teacher. Although she never realized her dream of obtaining a higher education, Alice was an avid reader of all subjects and loved to share her knowledge with others.

Her passions included flower gardening, music (she played the mandolin), cooking and enjoying the company of friends and family, many of whom she referred to as her brothers and sisters. Her love for Jehovah was unyielding.

Alice took great pride in maintaining an immaculate home and cooking scrumptious meals for her loved ones. Her door was always open for anyone desiring a home-cooked meal.

Alice will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband and family, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Alice is survived by her husband, John; their five children: Katerina (Pat), Alfredo (Lorraine), Esther (David), Athena (John) and John Christopher; and her 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Maria; her niece, Angela (Dimitrios); and Angela's children, Kostas and Sofia, all of Greece.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses on 180 Martin Road in Jamestown.

Arrangements are by the Lind Funeral Home.
