SHERMAN - The 33rd annual Sherman Central School Honors Dinner was held recently at the Chautauqua Inns and Suites with more than 350 people attending and more than 30 staff members volunteering to serve.
Melissa Lyon Sherman Central School board vice president, and Chelsey Winchester, guidance counselor, presented each honor student a certificate and the Honor Roll students were also given passes for games and special events. The Honor Roll students were also presented with learning pin. If they are on the Honor Roll four years they will receive a school letter. Students who made the honor or merit roll all four quarters received a merit award.
The dinner included members of the Sherman Central School band and chorus, who performed for the guests. They included Kevin Gleason, Lena Young, Kim Pacy, Danielle Reed, Bailey Weeks, Gabriel Rater, Brandon Van Curen and Rebekah Anderson.

Michael Ginestre, principal, welcomed guests and Pastor Paul Sears gave the invocation. It was followed by a dinner served by school volunteers.
The keynote speaker was Pamela Warner. The Warners came to Sherman in 1981 with their two daughters, Kelly and Holly. Mrs. Warner has been teaching at Sherman Central School since 1982. She grew up in Mayville and received her bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in elementary education from the State University at Brockport and her masters in education from the State University at Fredonia. Aside from teaching her students, Mrs. Warner said one of her greatest joys at Sherman is being able to mentor new teachers as they begin their careers.
