FREDONIA - Craig Einhorn, a classical guitarist and State University at Fredonia music alumnus, will be the featured guest artist in a recital at 8 p.m. Oct. 19, in the Rosch Recital Hall.
The event is free and open to the public, supported by the Fredonia Guitar Society. The program will feature a variety of styles from various countries and time periods, including several melodic studies by Larry Long, Einhorn's own transcriptions of J.S. Bach, traditional Spanish works, choros from Brazil, and tangos and milongas from Argentina. A unique performance element, the concert will conclude with songs sung by Mr. Einhorn.
Born in 1965 and raised in Yonkers, Einhorn entered college at SUNY Fredonia in 1983 as a communications major but soon discovered the classical guitar. After earning his Bachelor of Music Performance degree in 1988, Einhorn received a full scholarship to the Arizona State University Graduate School of Music. There he was chosen as a graduate assistant in Modern Dance accompaniment. He completed his Masters in Classical Guitar Performance at Arizona State in 1989. From 1988 to 1996, Einhorn taught music theory, electronic music, music appreciation, history of jazz and history of rock and roll at community colleges in Arizona. His first CD, "In With the Old, In With the New" released in 1995, was used by Barbara Walters on national television on several programs.
