Josephine M. Rolph, 95, formerly of Celoron and Bemus Point, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2012), in the Heritage Green Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Oct. 16, 1916, in Fredonia, the daughter of Charles and Lucy Malta.
Prior to retiring, she had been employed as a secretary at Jamestown Metal Manufacturing Co. In earlier years, she had worked at the former National Worsted Mills and at the former Big N Department Store.
She was a 60-year communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bemus Point, and enjoyed knitting.
Surviving are a sister, Carolyn Taddio of Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews, including Valerie Francis of Jamestown, who had been her caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Rolph, whom she married March 29, 1951, and who died Nov. 4, 2010; five brothers: Russell, John, Larry, Charles, and Angelo Malta; and by two sisters: Rose Lodestro and Mary Auria.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Sunset Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Todd Remick, pastor of St. Marys of Lourdes Catholic Church, will officiate.
