WESTFIELD - Roscoe Arthur Daniel Leigey, 85, of Jackson Street, Westfield, N.Y., died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, 2012, at Westfield Memorial Hospital.
Roscoe was born Sept. 19, 1927, in London, England, the son of the late Arthur D. and Elsie Fanny (Haynes) Leigey.
He came to the United States at age 21 from London, England, and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Westfield in the early 1960s. Roscoe was an executive chef, having trained at Westminister Tech of London, where he graduated at the very top of his class. He had been one of the top chefs at the Dorchester Hotel in London. While in Pittsburgh, he ran two Italian restaurants simultaneously before coming to Westfield. Roscoe had been the executive chef at various golf clubs in Pennsylvania, most recently at the Venango Country Club and several area restaurants. His forte was to open, then get running, fine restaurants, several of which were in Chautauqua County.

An avid golfer, Roscoe golfed in many area golf leagues. He was a family man who greatly enjoyed his granddaughter, as she was the love of his life.
Mr. Leigey was a lifetime member of the Westfield Fish and Game Club and an active member of the USGA.
Roscoe is survived by his daughter, Laurel Leigey-Barker and his granddaughter, Megan Mae Barker, both of Westfield, N.Y.
Besides his parents, Roscoe was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley M. Lloyd Leigey; and his brother, Garnett Thompson.
Friends may call on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Lakeshore Assembly of God, 252 E. Main St., Westfield, from noon until the time of the funeral services there at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vincent Sanzo officiating. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
