JHS Boys, Fredonia Girls Register Cross Country Victories

FREDONIA - Fredonia's Jacob Brown was the winner of the boys division with a time of 18:23 as the Hillbillies hosted Gowanda, Jamestown and Frewsburg in CCAA cross country action.

Brown was followed by Christian Edborg and Michael Capestrani from Jamestown.

In team scores, the Red Raiders (8-0) had 31 points to take first place, Gowanda (5-2) was second with 48, Fredonia (3-5) placed third with 61 points and Frewsburg (2-7) finished fourth with 74 points.

In the girls division, Fredonia's Lauren Reyda led the pack with a time of 19:51 for the Lady Hillbillies with Jamestown's Olivia Zabrodsky in second and Michaela Tramuta of Fredonia in third.

Fredonia (7-1) was first with 21 points, followed by the Lady Panthers (5-2) with 66, Jamestown (5-3) took third with 70 and Frewsburg was fourth with 77 points.

DRAGONS DOMINATE

BEMUS POINT - Maple Grove dominated in both the boys and girls divisions as it played host to Franklinville and Dunkirk.

The Red Dragons took first place with 17 points, thanks to another first-place finish by Corey Wefing, who completed the 3.1-mile course in 16:59, followed by his teammates Josh Ahlstrom in second at 18:37 and Colin Green in third with 18:46.

Dunkirk was second in the team standings with 49 points and Franklinville had 76 points.

Megan Marsh ran to a first-place finish for the Lady Red Dragons with a time of 19:59 while teammate Hope Pietrocarlo was second with 20:01 and Taylor Norris took third with 21:06.

In team results, Maple Grove was first with 15 points while both Dunkirk and Franklinville were incomplete.

PANUS, SEIDERS WIN

Silver Creek and Olean paid a visit to Southwestern and Olean's John Panus was the overall winner for the boys division, posting a time of 17:47 on the 3.1-mile course.

Panus was followed by the Trojans' Ryan Hetrick with 18:31 and teammate Jordan Powers with 18:59.

The Huskies were first with 29 points, Southwestern was next with 34 and Silver Creek had 71.

Hannah Seiders of Silver Creek was the top finisher for the girls with a time of 22:23, Southwestern's Emily Kent took second with 22:55 and Alexis Minard was third with 23:32.

The Lady Black Knights topped the meet with 30 points, Southwestern was second with 42 and Olean had 48 for third.

SHERMAN SHINES

RANDOLPH - Holly Eliason was first with a 3.1- mile time of 20:47 as the Sherman girls (6-2) scored 22 points, Allegany-Limestone 34, and Falconer and Randolph were incomplete teams.

Rebecca King was second at 20:57 for Sherman while Falconer's Kirsten Holmberg was third with a reading of 21:13.

Ericka Carnahan of Randolph was sixth with a 23:32.

In the boys race, Ryan Carpenter was third with an 18:50 as Sherman (5-3) won with 33 points, Randolph had 55, and Falconer and Allegany-Limestone 61 points apiece.

Jordan Boland was fourth (19:11), Trevor Gleason fifth (19:12) and Justin Svetz (19:16) seventh for Sherman.

Owen Barber of Allegany-Limestone was first with a 17:57 and Hunter Lienhart of Randolph was second with a 18:28. Austin Ormond of Falconer came in sixth.
