WESTFIELD POLICE
WESTFIELD - Alexey Gaev, 37, of Erie, Pa., was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, tailgating, unsafe passing and failure to use the designated lane at 6:23 p.m. Saturday. According to police, an officer observed Gaev make an unsafe pass on the right of a vehicle that he was tailgating. Further investigation showed that Gaev's privileges to operate a motor vehicle in New York were allegedly suspended. He was issued traffic citations and will appear in court later.
WESTFIELD - Josh P. Northrup, 31, of Westfield, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 1:21 a.m. Sunday. He was issued an appearance ticket and is to appear in court later.
WESTFIELD - An 18-year-old youth and a 16-year-old youth, both of Erie, Pa., were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 4:09 a.m. Sunday after officers investigated a suspicious vehicle parked at 102 E. Main St. in Westfield. They will appear in court later.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
FRENCH CREEK - Bryant W. Sapone, 23, of Erie, Pa., was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign at 7:05 p.m. According to police, Sapone failed stop at an intersection on Griffin Road and struck a utility pole, breaking it in half and causing a power outage. Sapone was released to his parents and is to appear in court later.
RIPLEY - Bobby J. Fowler, 29, of Ripley, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated per se, failure to maintain a lane, operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device and having an unregistered motor vehicle at 7:58 p.m. Sunday. According to police, officers responded to a one-car motor-vehicle accident on Route 5 in the town of Ripley and found that Fowler was intoxicated at the time of the accident. He was released to a sober party and will answer the charges in court at a later date. No one was injured in the crash.
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
ASHFORD - Ryan W. McCarthy, 30, of Ellicottville, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .08 percent or greater at 8:53 p.m. after going through a checkpoint on Route 219 in the town of Ashford. He was taken in for processing and is due back in court later.
ASHFORD - Jacob C. Dunmire, 28, of Springville, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 7:45 p.m. after going through a checkpoint on Route 219 in the town of Ashford. He was released and is due back in court later.
COLDSPRING - Elizabeth M. Bunker, 27, of Steamburg, was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC of .18 percent or greater at 10:51 p.m. Friday. She was processed and released on tickets to be back in court later.
HINSDALE - John J. Bird, 44, of 205 S. 13th St., Olean, was charged with cruelty to an animal at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. According to police, Bird was arrested for an incident on Aug. 25 where he allegedly let his dog go free on a back road and failed to provide the necessary food and drink for the dog. The dog was later found hanging off a bridge on Underwood Road by its leash. Bird was issued an appearance ticket and is due in court at a later date.
NEW YORK STATE POLICE
POLAND - Christopher J. Jenkins, 24, of Jamestown, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree aggravated harassment at 8:40 p.m. Monday.
POMFRET - Kurt A. Raths, 54, of Dunkirk, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 5 a.m. Monday. He was issued an appearance ticket for the charge and will be back in court later.
