Outdoor Club To Ride Thursday
The Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes in the Akeley area on Thursday. Participants will meet at the Jamestown Audubon Center at 5 p.m., ride to Akeley and then return to the Audubon. For more information, call Pat Spicer at 814-757-8331 between 9 and 11 p.m.
Bike Trip
Set For Friday
The Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes from Falconer to Onoville on Friday. Participants will meet at Clay Pond Road in Falconer at 9 a.m. From there they will ride to Randolph for breakfast then on to Steamburg and Onoville, where they will get on Ivory Run Road and ride through Frewsburg then use side roads to return to Clay Pond Road for a total of 40 miles. The ride was originally scheduled for Oct. 6. For more information, call Dave Wallgren at 665-7857. On Sunday, club members will hike the trails in the Jamestown Audubon Center. Participants will meet at the trailhead bulletin board at 2 p.m. The five-mile loop hike connects a number of trails to give hikers a tour of the center. Library To Host Free Story Hour
ASHVILLE - The Ashville Free Library will have a story hour at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday for children between the ages of 2 and 8. Story time will be conducted by Lydia Samuelson. No registration is required. The library is located at 2200 N. Maple St., Ashville.
Thrift Shop Offers Winter Clothing
St. Luke's Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and Fifth streets, Jamestown, has a wide selection of "new" winter coats and winter clothing available. The shop is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Donated items are received 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays or any day the shop is open for business. There is off-street parking at the church parking lot just off of Fifth Street. This is a nonprofit enterprise with all proceeds going to local outreach. The shop is run by volunteers, many of whom are with RSVP.
Fall Cleanup Set For Monday, Oct. 7
Lake View Cemetery will begin its annual fall cleanup Monday, Oct. 7. Any decorations not removed by that date will be disposed of by cemetery personnel. The cemetery will also begin its winter hours in October, with the gates closing at 4:30 p.m.
Chicken Barbecue
Set For Oct. 7
FORESTVILLE - The Forestville Fire Department will host a chicken barbecue, beginning at noon on Oct. 7. The menu includes chicken, red potatoes, squash, tossed salad, warm roll and pumpkin bar. Pre-orders will be taken, takeout and free delivery within the village of Forestville will be available.
Widow's Luncheon
Set For Oct. 14
A Widow's Luncheon will be hosted by Levant Wesleyan Church at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, to honor the widows in the community. All widows are welcome to attend the free lunch. The program will be by the Junior Guilders The church is located on Route 394 between Falconer and Kennedy. Reservations are requested by Oct. 10 by calling 665-4402 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
