To the Readers' Forum:
In reflection of the article "Effective Enough," cited on page A5, Sept. 21, concerning IUD's as a positive answer to teenage pregnancy - on the feminine side - I would like to very simply say: I n U're D reams. - ya old goats!
It is neither safe nor is it fair. You keep trying to dupe our children into a false sense of security over promiscuous sexual encounters, and why, because you are business people, not physicians of healing.
You want to sell a product and you can't wait until they grow up to do it. You want to sell it to innocent, trusting teenage women (no responsibility on the boys part). Maybe we should just sell them some handcuffs too because it all amounts to nothing but trouble.
I'd rather think a roaring game of Yatzee might produce a better, safer future. We'd all like to sanitize our hands over this controversial teenage dilemma, however, one might ask : By sticking our heads in the sand over this kind of scientific go-a-head politics will we reap a sterile society?
