CHERRY CREEK - Members of the Cherry Creek Community Association, Cherry Creek town and village officials and supportive members of the community came together recently for the ceremonial groundbreaking for the new playground at the ballpark on Main Street in the village.
The Community Association spearheaded fundraising efforts with the support of the Cherry Creek Fire Department. Fundraising began more than four years ago with a large gift campaign, launched in February, which ended in reaching the goal of more than $40,000. The money is being used to replace the old playground equipment, which was removed several years ago.
The association received community support for its many fundraising events, and the response to the large gift effort was outstanding, according to organizers. Gold donors included the Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Dave and Nancy Hall and Joe and Linda Powell. Bronze donors included Cattaraugus County Bank and America's Promise, the family of Ernest and Joyce Chase, the family of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn C. Darling Jr., Fredonia Animal Hospital, the Herb and Barb Nobles family, Noco Energy Corporation, the family of Richard and Eleanor Schultz and the family of Wesley J. Young.
