Helen Plano

Helen Plano, 97, of Woodbridge, Va., formerly of Falconer passed away Wednesday (Sept. 26, 2012) in Woodbridge, Va.

She was born March 1, 1915, in Olean, N.Y., the daughter of the late Michael and Victoria (Micek) Koresko.

In earlier years Helen along with her husband Ernest, and her sister and brother-in-law Mary & Bill Korcyl had owned and operated K&P Service Station formerly located on the Falconer-Frewsburg Road. Helen enjoyed conversation and hospitality with her customers.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church and Falconer Moose Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed cooking, bowling, reading and crocheting many afghans.

Surviving is her daughter Joyce (John) Castro of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandsons: Ernest Castro of Herndon, Va., Richard (Barbara) Castro of Centerville, Va., and Lt. Col. Robert (Alison) Castro of Okinawa, Japan; eight great-grandchildren: Brenna, Katie, Ryan, Joseph, Samantha, Annie, Colin and Shea Castro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Plano, whom she married April 22, 1933, who died Aug. 23, 1979; two brothers: Steve and Edward Koresko; and a sister, Mary Korcyl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church Falconer. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society of OLL will conduct a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
