A handgun was discovered in the 2003 Buick Century driven by Anthony R. Taglianetti II after he was taken into custody Friday afternoon near Shenandoah Valley National Park in Virginia.
On Saturday, Chautauqua County Sheriff Joe Gerace could not definitively say it was the weapon used to fire three gunshots and take the life of Clymer Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. on the night of Sept. 21, but did say the gun was sent for ballistic tests to see if that was the case.
It is believed Taglianetti, who now faces second-degree murder charges in connection with Reed's death, may have returned home for a short time after the shooting, but Gerace said law enforcement has since known several additional locations for the ex-Marine.

Taglianetti lived in Woodbridge, Va., with his wife, Mary, and four children. Gerace did not confirm reports that Mary Taglianetti told police her husband committed the murder, but did say that she has been "very cooperative in the investigation."
At a news conference this past week, David Foley, Chautauqua County district attorney, said that Taglianetti and Reed "were not unfamiliar with each other."
When asked Saturday if the two had ever met face to face, Gerace did not know, but did say that he believes Reed shared electronic correspondence with both Mary and Anthony Taglianetti.
"We will know more once all of their emails are investigated," Gerace said.
The investigation should also reveal just how far back the emails date and possibly how long the Taglianettis knew Reed.
Taglianetti is being held for the weekend in Prince William County, Va.
"It is my understanding that an extradition arraignment is going to occur Monday in Virginia," Foley said Saturday. "At that time he has the right to either waive it, which means he will immediately be brought back to New York state, or have a hearing."
Foley went on to say that all that needs to be proven at an extradition hearing is that Taglianetti is the person charged in New York state with the murder of Keith Reed Jr.
