Marine Corps Maj. Daniel J. Dimicco, a 1985 graduate of Chautauqua High School, was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma, Okinawa. He joined the Marine Corps in June 1992.
Dimicco led and mentored 15 personnel in operations, ensuring the safe and effective conduct of more than 47,000 flights and movement of more than 30,000 passengers and 1.4 million pounds of cargo in support of III Marine Expeditionary Force. He also flew 1,800 hours of Operational Support Airlift flight time in 26 countries, including challenging extended-range international missions, taking both UC-12 and UC-35 aircraft from Okinawa to the United States.
