ORCHARD PARK - Jamestown High School scored first, but then undefeated Orchard Park took over to record a 5-1 loss in girls soccer in Division 1 of the Erie County Interscholastic Conference on Thursday.
Ellen Merchant tallied on an assist from Rachel Oelbracht at five minutes and held the lead until 10 minutes left in the first half. Orchard Park scored at that point and added another goal for a 2-1 halftime edge.
Orchard Park recorded three goals in the second half en route to the victory.
Hannah Bensink made 17 saves for Jamestown.
DIVISION 3
PANAMA WINS
PANAMA - Panama scored a goal in each half, goalkeeper Rebekah Whitmore made eight saves and the Lady Panthers (3-4, 3-3) blanked North Collins, 2-0, on Wednesday.
Kirsten Green, assisted by Meghan Conway, gave Panama an early, 1-0 lead at 14 minutes into the first half and then Conway found the back of the net at 24 minutes into the second to reach the winning margin.
Conway's tally was assisted by Lindsey Stravato.
For North Collins (1-5), Aurora Klawinksi made seven saves in defeat.
