PANAMA - The Turcotte sisters were instrumental in leading Panama to its first victory over Frewsburg in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association swimming in 30 years on Thursday evening.

Paige Turcotte was a double winner in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events while Anna Turcotte hit the wall first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke.

In all, Panama won nine of 12 events, and the Lady Panthers set a season-high 42 personal bests.

"(Frewsburg coach) Bruce Johnson does a wonderful job and over the years they've been dominant and the team to beat in the world of swimming (in our area)," Panama coach Todd Conklin said. "The girls have been working extremely hard and we've been building for this. Tonight was our night."

The victory puts the Lady Panthers in position to win the league title, something they haven't done since 1983, the last time the squad bested the Bears.

Morgan Scarpino was a double winner in defeat, taking the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle.
