The Chautauqua County Office of Emergency Services, in conjunction with the Chautauqua County Airport in Ellicott, will be conducting an exercise at 9 a.m. Saturday to test the Airport Emergency Response Plan.
Many local agencies have worked together to design the exercise that will test the response capability should there be an emergency at the airport. Some of these agencies include airport staff members, Fluvanna Fire Department, Ellicott Police Department, Sheriff Department, WCA Hospital, ALSTAR Ambulance, Chautauqua County HAZMAT and Technical Rescue Team, Fire Departments and EMS Agencies from the Third and Fourth Fire Battalion, Jamestown Civil Air Patrol, Chautauqua County Public Health and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service.
Due to the exercise there may be minor traffic disruption in the area of the airport on West Oak Hill Road. There will also be increased non-emergency ambulance traffic between the Airport and WCA Hospital lasting two hours.
