The Drug Enforcement Administration has scheduled a National Prescription Drug Take-Back day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, in front of the Southside Pharmacy in the Southside Plaza, 766 Foote Ave.
The Jamestown Police Department will participate.
This is an opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or have subsuquently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dipose of those medications. Residents will be able to bring their old and or unwanted prescriptions and over-the-counter medications to the site so that they can be properly collected and destroyed.
There will be more than 30 locations in Western New York that will be available for residents to use to drop off their medication, including three in Chautauqua County. The two other locations in Chautauqua County are at the Chautauqua Mall in Lakewood and at the Alstar Ambulance Headquarters in Dunkirk.
Businesses within the city of Jamestown that are willing to post a flyer advertising the event are asked to contact the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7529 and a poster will be delivered to them for their display. More information about this event can be found online at www.nationalprescriptiondrugdropoff.com.
