Sara M. Zewatsky Brann, 90, of Pin Oaks Street, Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Corry, Pa., died at her home on Monday, Sept. 24, 2012.
She was born on March 22, 1922, in Masontown, Pa., a daughter of the late Nunzio and Rosino Brucato Lamendola.
As a young girl, Sara moved in 1936 with her family to Columbus, Pa., where she was raised and educated. She graduated from the former Dean High School in Columbus in 1941 and then graduated from Hamot School of Nursing in Erie, Pa., with a registered nurse degree in 1945. She began working at Corry Memorial Hospital in the operating room and then worked on the floor for many years before becoming supervisor of the first-floor east for two years. Sara retired in 1984. For several years she spent winters in Bradenton, Fla., and then Longboat Key, Fla. She lived in Bemus Point, N.Y.. for a few years before moving to Sarasota, Fla., with her daughter in 2009.

Sara was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Corry, the Catholic Daughters of America and Hamot Hospital Alumni Association. She enjoyed spending time at the Senior Friendship Center playing games, listening to music and socializing. Sara most enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and visiting her friends.
In addition to her parents, Sara was preceded in death on Sept. 14, 1986, by her first husband, Edmund T. Zewatsky, whom she married on Nov. 9, 1946, in Corry, Pa.; her second husband on June 20, 1993, A.E. Brann, whom she married in Corry in 1991; a sister, Lucy Kwitowski; and a brother, Thomas Lamendola.
Sara is survived by a daughter Patricia R. Zewatsky of Sarasota, Fla., two sons: Thomas Zewatsky and his wife Cindy of Luray, Va., and Frederick Zewatsky of Bemus Point, N.Y., and a brother, Anthony Lamendola and his wife Sandy of Corry, Pa. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Aaron Zewatsky and his wife Jennifer, Stephen Zewatsky and his wife Anne, Ryan Zewatsky and his wife Stephanie and Sarah Zewat-sky; seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Levi, Jacob, Emma, Caden, Helena and Marley Zewatsky; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a parish vigil service there at 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 203 W. Washington St., Corry, Pa. The Rev. Mark Hoffman will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Corry, Pa.
