Dario Vaccari

Dario Vaccari, 75, of Celoron and Niagara-on-the-Lake, On-tario, died Aug. 23, 2012, as the result of a motor-vehicle accident in the town of Evans, N.Y.

He was born Aug. 19, 1937, in Palermo, Italy, the son of Camillo and Mary Petitto Vaccari.

A veteran of the Italian Army, he was educated in the United States at Cornell University and Kent State University. He later graduated from Seneca Institute of Technology in Canada.

He was employed in food service and hospitality at the Thorn Hill Golf and Country Club, and at the Royal Military Institute and other clubs in Toronto. In later years he was a caterer at Bush Industries in Falconer and owned and operated Pasta, Etc. in Jamestown.

Dario loved to cook and enjoyed sharing his passion with friends and family. He enjoyed traveling, table tennis, golf and swimming, and had just recently taken up lawn bowling.

Surviving are two step-children: Gregor and Barbara Binkley, both of Canada; and his companion, Barbara Zimakas of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Binkley Vaccari, who died in September 2000; a brother, Emilio Vaccari; and by three cousins: Thomas Costanzo, Carmella Campana and Mary Lou Costanzo.

A celebration of Dario's life will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Maplehurst Country Club, 1508 Big Tree Road, Lakewood. To send a message to the family, visit www.presentsixbeyfuneral.com.
