Marshall James Kelley, 89, of Stockton, passed from this life into eternal rest Aug. 30, 2012.
Born Jan. 12, 1923, at the Kelley family farm in Bear Lake, son of the late Tower and Frances Howard Kelley.
He was a World War II veteran and served our country from 1943-46 in Headquarters 316th Bombardment Wing as a corporal of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic at Pearl Harbor and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged from the military service.

Marshall was employed as a machinist at the ALCO plant in Dunkirk, a truck driver for Rounds & Son Basket Factory OTR delivering baskets to mushroom growers along the east coast, and for Staffen Trucking building roads in Alleghany State Park as well as Route 5 in Chautauqua County. He worked for the Town of Stockton Highway Department and was elected highway superintendent for 16 years. Then he worked for the Chautauqua County Highway Department until retirement.
He was a member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Department, the Highway Superintendent's Association, Gowanda Moose Club, Stockton Community Church, Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280, and was awarded for giving more than 50 years of service to the the Stockton Greenwood Cemetery Association.
Marshall enjoyed many years of bowling, golf and early morning coffee with his friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Alice Swift Kelley, whom he married April 23, 1949; a son, Randall Monroe Kelley; and sisters: Lucille Kelley Smith (Joseph), and Eleanor May Kelley.
Survived by his daughters: Maureen Kelley Schafer (C. David) and Bronwyn Kelley Goot, both of Stockton; brother, James Kelley of Jamestown; grandchildren: G. Zacharias Schafer (Kayla), Jesse Schafer (Carrie), Nathaniel, April, and A. Moriah Goot; great-grandchildren: Stefan Schafer, and Evan and Janell Rishel; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marshall's family invites you to join them at the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 on Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. for a Celebration of Life luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stockton Greenwood Cemetery, Stockton, N.Y.
