ROCHESTER - Jamestown Community College (3-4-1, 2-2), an NJCAA Region 3 Division III team, ran into a powerful Monroe CC, a Division I squad, and lost a 6-1 men's soccer game on Wednesday.
The Tribunes, now 8-0, took a 3-0 halftime lead with two goals by Ngwete Ebangwese and a penalty shot by Abe Barry with 48 seconds left in the first half. Ebangwese scored four minutes in assisted by Darryl Potter and later at 27 minutes unassisted.
Monroe added three goals in the second half on tallies by Simus Sharkey at seven minutes, Trey Hildenbrandt at 18 minutes and Daniel Torsro at 20 minutes.
JCC avoided the shutout when Gage Bird got his third goal of the season from Cody Ahlstrom at 22 minutes.
Ben Morgan stopped eight shots for JCC while winning goalie Dominic Chioraco made six saves for Monroe.
