CASSADAGA - Norman F. Waterman, 92, of Cassadaga, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Unity Hospital, Rochester.
He was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Cassadaga, the son of the late Merle and Alice Waite Waterman. A Cassadaga resident all of his life, he was a 1938 graduate of Cassadaga High School.
Norm was a World War II veteran serving with the U.S. Navy.

For 37 years, he was employed as a rural mail carrier for the Cassadaga and Stockton post office until retirement in 1977 and also served as sexton for the Cassadaga Cemetery for more than 20 years.
He was a 60-year member of the I.O.O.F, a charter member for more than 65 years of the Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280, a member for more than 65 years and past fire chief of the Cassadaga Volunteer Fire Department. He was an assistant scout-master of Cassadaga Boy Scout Troop 19 for more than 35 years, and a lifelong member, past deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and longtime usher of the Cassadaga Commun-ity Baptist Church. In 1987 he was honored as Senior Citizen of the Year in Cassadaga.
Norm was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman.
Husband of 47 years to Marjorie Haines Waterman, whom he married May 18, 1957, and died Nov. 15, 2004; father of Lt. Col. Lawrence A. (Luanne) Waterman and grandfather of Glen and Sara Waterman, all of Spencerport; brother of Nancy Gravelle of Amherst, Burton and Kenneth (Joan) Waterman, all of Cassadaga, and the late Mary Swanson and Cora Peterson. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cassadaga Community Baptist Church, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Burial in Cassadaga Cemetery.
