Chautauqua District Order Of The Eastern Star Donates To Veteran’s Van Fund

The Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star has donated $531 to the Chautauqua County Veterans' Service Agency to go toward the Chautauqua Veterans' Van Fund.

The donation was made by Helen Patti, district deputy grand matron of the order, and received by Doug Diers, director of the Chautauqua County Veterans' Service Agency.

The Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star, which includes the Acacia Chapter, Mt. Siani-Mecca Chapter, Forestville Chapter, Canadaway Chapter and Silver Chapter, have all contributed to the total donation of $531.

Throughout the past year, other donations were given by the Chautauqua District Order of the Eastern Star, including: $100 to the WNY Veterans' Hospital for its Christmas morning gifts, personal toiletries valued at $350 which were distributed to charities throughout the year and one member made an afghan of the American flag which was raffled off. An additional $215 was donated to the Chautauqua Veterans' Van Fund following the raffle, additionally.

"This donation helps more than anyone could possibly imagine," said Diers. "With the rising costs in fuel this year, donations such as these cannot be appreciated enough."
