Area Native Becomes Ohio State Trooper

September 17, 2012
The Post-Journal

James Hare, 22, a 2008 graduate of Maple Grove High School, recently graduated after 22 weeks of training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy in Columbus, Ohio.

Hare received an award at the graduation ceremony for top performance in physical fitness. Ohio is one of the few states across the country that mandate and test all troopers annually on their physical fitness. Every trooper across the state is weighed monthly and given annual physical fitness tests. If a trooper fails to meet the standards and body fat percentage target, they can be fired.

Hare led the class with a time of 8 minutes, 28 seconds, on the 1.5 mile run and benched pressed 375 pounds. He is stationed in Delaware County, north of Columbus.
