CORNING - Despite outshooting the opposition, the Jamestown Community College woman's soccer team (2-3, 2-3) came up short in NJCAA Region 3 Division III action on Saturday.
''We were the better team and outshot them, 23-7,''stated coach Dana Shelters after dropping a 2-1 decision to Clinton CC (3-3, 3-3) in a game played at Corning CC.
JCC got the first goal when Jill Slawiak connected on free kick from 25 yards at 25 minutes.
The Jayhawks carried the lead until Ashley Davidson tallied at 1-1 at 27 minutes of the second half for Clinton.
Then with five minutes left, Christina Guerrin got the winning goal as Clinton was in the JCC end of the field the only two times it scored.
Emily Pleszewski had seven saves for JCC and Emily Schulz made 23 stops for Clinton.
Jamestown is idle until Saturday when it takes on visiting Tompkins-Cortland CC at noon.
